Have Pasqualini and Rossi been banned from a casino, tour or event as a direct result of this suspension? Our main source of traffic is clearly existing customers recommending other people to join our Schalke Vs Darmstadt. In-Depth 30 Nov Is innovation slowing down Kakerlakenpoker online casino? Warren : Hey, everyone. Casino Affiliate Bojoko. Moneymaker probably had never even thought about the side-effects of his victory. If so, could you do me a big favour and share it with your friends using one Aktion Mensch Verlosung the share buttons below? Warren : Without giving any specifics, what are the major markets that comprise of that 90 million? The longer iGaming Post take to address this, the more momentum they will give the poker media to possibly shame them out of existence with their advertisers. Warren : Dominik, we know that PokerStrategy has a robust affiliate program.
Chance occurrence. Dominik : Well, I kind of turned into a business guy over the years. I was also always the front-facing person.
In our forums, for example, I, myself, have more than 12, postings. I still am in daily touch with the community. In the early days, I did most of the poker coaching myself.
I wrote lots of the strategy articles myself. Of course, the lack of business knowledge I had in the early days, I just acquired over the years.
Warren : Great. How many employees does the company currently have? Are there multiple offices or one office? Can you tell us about the corporate makeup of the business?
Dominik : We are based in Gibraltar. We have full-time employees here. In addition to that, we have around to paid freelancers around the world, in all places, like China, Russia, South America, Germany, and the UK.
Those people are responsible for doing the poker content, the teaching, the forum moderation, translation, and so on. We also have an IT company that does our database stuff and web development.
They are based in Germany with about 70 people. In total, that makes or so, of which are full time and to are freelance.
Warren : Wow. How do you find these freelancers? How do you find good quality freelancers to work with you? At the end of the day, it took us almost five years.
Basically, we recruit from within our community. We have more than 5. The cool thing is that people that teach poker, many of them actually learned poker through PokerStrategy, so we can ensure a very high level of quality and consistency.
Finding freelancers is maybe not that hard. Finding good freelancers, or managing them correctly, that you have solid quality standards, that you make sure that you only pay an invoice after work has actually been delivered, which sounds easy, but if you have of them you need to have a good quality assurance in place, good accounting in place.
Those kinds of things are what we have learned and perfected over the years. The main source of recruitment is clearly our community. What are the different business models that Poker Strategy employ to generate revenue?
Dominik : Well, the key business model has really always been the same. Once they have learned how to play, there are two ways that they can play poker for real money.
One is that they deposit money straight away or the other option is that they take one of our free money offers, which is the promotion that we have been running for almost five years.
Or, through another micro bankroll that a few poker rooms give out for themselves. Once they have money on the site, either by making a deposit or getting the free money offer, and they start playing, as an affiliate, we earn a revenue share or CPA revenue.
It is really our goal to make them enjoy poker as much as possible and teach them how to play. Then, of course, many players will be able to become sustainable poker players or even winning players.
They might still enjoy the game and play for fun, even over a longer period of time. Our customers really like it because our interest is clearly aligned with them.
That has been working quite well. In terms of business models, revenue share is obviously a main component. Do you do CPA hybrid deals, just in terms of your actual commercials that you cut with various operators?
Dominik : It really depends. Our view is always, if we work with the poker room, to treat a CPA player exactly the same as we treat a revenue share player.
We would never discriminate against customers because one customer might be CPA and the other might be revenue share. For us, we treat it very agnostically.
It really mostly depends on the preferences of the operators. If they prefer revenue share, we can do revenue share. We really see it as the same thing, ultimately.
In the long-term, it really is. Warren : In terms of traffic, how many page views does PokerStrategy receive on a monthly basis? Dominik : Let me quickly double-check.
On a monthly basis, we have about 90 million page views. Over the last year, it was in total 1. Warren : Without giving any specifics, what are the major markets that comprise of that 90 million?
Dominik : Well, our strongest market is the Russian-speaking countries. That followed by the German-speaking countries. Then, you would have Spanish, French-speaking countries, Italy of course, all the regulated markets are also strong.
Then, it kind of diversifies. In total, I would say we have managed to become quite successful in pretty much all of the languages that we offer.
Our share of page views is almost getting a strong focus on the Russian market because there we are very successful. It just shows that our business model really works in different markets and different regions.
Many affiliates look at only first-time monthly depositors. I know that your business is a little bit different. Can you tell our audience a little bit about the difference between the two and why looking at real money players is important for your business?
Just a little bit of insight. Is that true? Dominik : Yeah, of course. In poker, there is, of course, a strong correlation between how much money a player wins and how much money a player generates in rake.
The highest rakers are usually also winning players. But their visibility within the industry has drawn extra scrutiny with criticism having been levelled in the past about their negative impact on the online poker industry as a whole.
GI: In five years PokerStrategy has grown an exceptional amount. Did you have plans for such rapid expansion? DK: Probably not.
PokerStrategy was really created out of my personal passion for poker and for teaching which I've always had; I'm not a business man by training.
I got into poker at university and got really excited about the mathematical challenge of the game, so I started playing it myself but I already had the passion for teaching.
PokerStrategy was born to teach people how to play poker based on scientific principles. That really happened almost by accident.
Initially we didn't really plan for any expansion but once we saw the concept worked then we thought about expanding and it seemed the next logical step.
At the end of the day, PokerStrategy is based on education and community but the education is to help people become successful at poker. This isn't just for beginners but also for people who are already at intermediate and professional level to make them better.
Education can also be used in a more light-hearted and entertaining way to help with conversion, for example, from play-money poker to real-money poker.
We think that this more light-hearted form of poker education is still a niche which remains to be exploited. There are also US sites that offer play-money platforms that would have to convert players into real-money players.
That's a task that remains to be done properly; there have been attempts by operators themselves but so far they've been of questionable execution and questionable quality.
As a poker room, what do you have to do to be featured on the PokerStrategy site? We always try to only work with reputable and established poker companies.
We don't work with the minor skin that has a licence in a second-tier jurisdiction; we try to dodge all of those poker rooms and so far we have been very successful.
There have probably been twenty or thirty poker rooms that went out of business in the last two or three years and we haven't worked with any of them, with the exception of Full Tilt.
The truth of the matter is that the bulk of high MGR players are paying their rake with the money they win off losing players. It is these losing players that are the true source of rake, while high volume players simply ensure that this liquidity is converted faster.
Player A, while generating little rake adds something beyond the rake to the poker ecosystem. Where I think Dominik and the PokerStrategy crew go slightly astray in their paper is as I mentioned before they seem to focus on rakeback affiliates as the core issue.
As a result when they go on to discuss solutions there is a tendency to tackle the rakeback problem rather than the bigger picture of cannibalistic affiliates which I think is broader than they define.
Rakeback in itself is not a problem. That is why I have a little problem with the solutions PokerStrategy puts forth.
One of the biggest problems in the debate about rakeback is that people generally approach the topic with some false assumptions already accepted as facts.
For instance, many people talk about rakeback affiliates as if they provide no value. What is the threshold for the difference between contributing and cannibalistic?
Many rakeback sites have original content, strategy, etc articles on their site. Some poker training sites are rakeback sites. How are any of those different than say, some guy who slaps a bunch of banners up on a website and pays someone to write some poker room reviews?
Why is there no outcry from the affiliate community about the bonus code and room review sites that far outnumber rakeback sites? Or where do you draw the line with incentives?
Are they not also other ways of returning cash to players that is not part of the centralized system where all affiliates are on a level playing field.
I think their service has a wonderful retention model. A great example of newsjacking for marketing purposes in poker came this week. This came hot off the heels of a video of them being released which had evidence of their alleged cheating at a Partouche Poker Tour final table.
Have Pasqualini and Rossi been banned from a casino, tour or event as a direct result of this suspension? Were they even close to topping a GPI leader board?
Do they even know or care what the GPI is? Possibly not. If you break it down, it was quite an empty gesture in itself, but it was also a brilliant PR move.
Dreyfus struck while the iron was hot, namely this story about Partouche cheating scandal. He created a controversial storyline which was easy for poker media sites to pick up, and was currently part of the conversation that was taking place on poker forums.
Most poker sites picked up the story, and some even newsjacked it themselves with opinion pieces to further the discussion.
Am I saying Dreyfus was disingenuous? Not at all, I do believe that he is trying to progress the game and discourage cheating, and I do believe that the GPI had always planned to introduce the concept of Player Trust Ratings too, which was the other big announcement from them in this story.
I just think he was very shrewd with his timing. The undisputed kings of newsjacking in gambling are Paddy Power, who are renowned for their publicity stunts with a hint of satire.
Just this week they did their classic newsjacking stunt of offering ridiculous odds on something in current affairs. Not at all, but at presumably zero cost to themselves they have been mentioned in hundreds of national newspapers as a result.
Randy created his own version of the latest internet meme the Harlem Shuffle. Classic newsjacking, he took a conversation which was already happening, and put himself into it:.
The key to newsjacking is to get in there early. If you are one of the first to respond to it, you get an opportunity to become the authority on that subject.Dominik Kofert | Hamburg und Umgebung, Deutschland | + Kontakte | Vollständiges Profil von Dominik auf LinkedIn anzeigen und vernetzen.
